Time Period Covered December 16, 2020 - December 16, 2020

COVID-19: Highlights and Situation Overview

• Worldwide, there have been over 73.6 million cases and more than 1.63 million deaths attributed to COVID-19.

• Indonesia’s National COVID-19 Task Force Head asked regional agencies to ration their polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests

and stay consistent with the World Health Organization's minimum benchmark of 1,000 per 1 million people per week. He

added that each region should take into account their testing logistical needs so they could continue testing in the longer

term. He said the task force would determine a minimum and maximum benchmark that must be met by local health

agencies so that testing performance would be proportional.

• The daily COVID-19 infection rate remains high in Mandalay District (Myanmar). Despite government’s warning to fine rule

breakers from December 5 to 18, the number of positive cases has increased to about 2000 within a span of eight days. As of

December 15, Myanmar has 1,115 7-day rolling average of new cases and has a total cases of 110,667.
