• Worldwide, there have been over 594 million cases and over 6 million deaths attributed
to COVID-19.
• According to the World Health Organization’s (WHO) Weekly Epidemiological Update,
over 6.9 million new cases were recorded during the week of August 1–7, 2022,
maintaining a consistent weekly total from the week before. Over 14,000 fatalities were
recorded, a 9% drop from the previous week's total of new weekly deaths. Globally, 6.4
million fatalities and 581.8 million confirmed cases have been reported as of August 7th,
2022.
