  • Worldwide, there have been over 15.5 million cases and over 632,000 deaths attributed to COVID-19. In the past seven days, there have been over 1.6 million cases reported globally. In Europe, nearly 3 million cases have been reported since the beginning of the outbreak while in Latin America there have been over 4 million cases reported. In the United States, cases continue to rise. Over the past two weeks, the United States has reported over 900,000 new cases, more than what the country reported for the entire month of June (~875,000). In addition, over the past few days, several countries have reported recordhigh single-day increases in new infections including Australia, Austria, Argentina, Japan and Kenya.
  • Brunei reported no new cases of COVID-19 with the national tally of cases standing at 141 as of July 15. Today marks the 78th consecutive day without new cases since May 7. In addition, Brunei government announces further easing of COVID-19 restrictions starting July 27. Mass gathering will be permitted but is limited to not more than 100 people only. Arcade and Playground (indoor and outdoor) will be permitted to operate at 30% capacity of their normal capacity at any one time. Other places of worship besides mosque and surau will be permitted to operate to their normal capacity starting August 3. In addition, Brunei has appointed a committee to discuss border crossing issues under the current Covid-19 pandemic to help create a safe and guided policy. According to the authority on July 23, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) has set up its own online platform where the public can apply to enter or exit the country.
  • Laos reported no new cases of COVID-19 with the national tally of cases standing at 19 as of July 15. Today marks the 103rd consecutive day without new cases since April 12.
