immune reaction with an acceptable safety profile among study participants.
The authors stated that the results were promising and large-scale evaluation
in an ongoing phase 3 trial would provide more information about how well the
candidate performs in various populations. This is the second COVID-19
vaccine candidate study with published results in a peer-reviewed medical
journal.

The Philippines authorities said on Tuesday (July 21) that it would ramp up
testing for COVID-19 amid a sharp rise in infections and deaths since the
lockdown was eased in June. The government aimed to test 32,000 to 40,000
people a day compared with the current 20,000 to 23,000. In Southeast Asia,
the Philippines ranks second to Indonesia in terms of the number of infections
and deaths. As of July 21, Philippines reported a total of 70,764 COVID-19 cases
and 1,837 deaths.
