According to The National Health Commission (NHC) of China as of March 18
there were 0 new suspected cases in Wuhan and in the Hubei province for two
consecutive days. This represents a significant event since Wuhan and Hubei
are the original epidemic center of the pandemic.
Italy has surpassed China as the country with most COVID-19 related deaths,
recording 427 new deaths for a total of 3,405 deaths across the country. Italy
confirmed its firsts cases on January 30, one month after China officially
reported the coronavirus outbreak and, as of March 19, Italy has reported more
than 40,000 cases, roughly half of the cases recorded in China.
Malaysia's two-week lockdown to curb the spread of the coronavirus was
implemented since Wednesday (March 18) and will run until March 31. During
this period, Malaysian citizens are barred from travelling overseas and foreign
visitors will not be allowed into the country. Public gatherings are banned,
along with all religious, sporting, social and cultural events. Schools, universities
and non-essential businesses remain closed
