Worldwide, there have been over 14.5 million cases, and over 605,000 deaths
attributed to COVID-19. The World Health Organization (WHO) has reported a
record increase in global cases for the second day in a row, with almost 260,000
cases in 24-hours. The countries with the biggest increases were reported from
the United States, Brazil, India and South Africa. Global deaths also rose by
more than 7,000 cases, the largest one-day increase since May 10. Throughout
the pandemic, deaths have been averaging 4,800 a day in July, slightly up
from the average of 4,600 a day in June.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has published an interim checklist for
local authorities on Practical actions in cities to strengthen preparedness for the
COVID-19 pandemic and beyond. The checklist accompanies the interim
guidance on Strengthening preparedness for COVID-19 in cities and urban
settings (WHO Situation Report 180).
Brunei reported no new cases of COVID-19 with the national tally of cases
standing at 141 as of July 15. Today marks the 74th consecutive day without
new cases since May 7.
