WHO has published interim guidance on oxygen sources and distribution
strategies for COVID-19 treatment. The document describes how to quantify
oxygen demand, identify oxygen sources that are available, and select
appropriate surge sources to best respond to COVID-19 patients’ needs,
especially in low-and-middle income countries (WHO Report 85)
Indonesia President declared the COVID-19 outbreak in Indonesia a "nonnatural national disaster" in a presidential decree last April 13. The decree also
states that efforts to mitigate the outbreak are to be led by the COVID-19 task
force with the cooperation of regional administrations, ministries and national
agencies.
On April 14, the Philippines rolls out its progressive mass testing to detect COVID19 cases in the country. In the first wave of expanded testing, high-risk patients
(people who are showing severe flu-like symptoms; elderly, those with preexisting health conditions, and pregnant women with mild symptoms; and
healthcare workers with respiratory symptoms) are prioritized. Currently, there
are 15 subnational laboratories that can conduct COVID-19 tests nationwide.
The Department of Health is also fast tracking the approval of 28 institutions
undergoing DOH laboratory certification process, while 37 others have
expressed intention to be certified.
On April 14, Singapore’s multi-ministry task force tackling the spread of COVID19 announced that it will now be mandatory for everyone to wear a mask
when leaving their residence. Staring today, April 15, anyone caught not
wearing a mask faces a fine of SGD 300 for the first offense and SGD 1,000 in
the next offense.
