Worldwide, there have been over 29 million cases and more than 926,000
deaths attributed to COVID-19.
Indonesia on Sunday (September 13) reported its sixth consecutive day of over
3,000 new cases of COVID-19. New infections on Sunday (September 13)
reached 3,636 with new deaths at 73. To try and stem the spread of the virus in
Jakarta, employees of businesses considered non-essential will be required to
work from home from September 13. Certain government workers will be
allowed to work from offices. Markets and shopping centres will be permitted
to stay open with admittance at half capacity, and restaurants within shopping
centres will be allowed to operate for take-out only. Jakarta authorities said
that starting September 14, the city government will also implement a
mandatory isolation policy, where anyone confirmed infected will be isolated
at designated locations, such as government facilities or hotels.
The Philippines on Monday (September 14) eased distancing rules meant to
contain the coronavirus pandemic in public vehicles, to which some infections
were previously traced. The transportation department earlier said physical
distancing could be adjusted to 0.75 meters from 1 meter, effective Monday,
since health protocols such as the use of face masks and face shields were
being enforced.
