On October 20, 2026, Nigeria confirmed one imported case of Ebola disease caused by Bundibugyo virus (BDBV) in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja. The patient, a woman who travelled from Uganda, developed symptoms four days after arrival and sought care on October 11.The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) activated its incident management system, while authorities and WHO strengthen surveillance; 44 contacts are being monitored.
