ASEAN Biological Threats Surveillance Centre (ABVC) Disease Alert No. 18 - Avian Influenza A (H5N1) in Cambodia

Time Period Covered September 29, 2026 - September 29, 2026

On September 27, 2026, the National Institute of Public Health and Institut Pasteur du Cambodge confirmed a human case of avian influenza A(H5N1) in a 49-year-old man from Oddar Meanchey Province. The patient resides in Trapeang Prasat District, and had direct contact with sick and dead chickens while raising and caring for poultry on a farm. The Ministry of Health subsequently issued a statement noting that the patient is currently isolated in a hospital and receiving treatment and medical care from a medical team.
